Non-discrimination • 2025–2027
RomInDis is a European initiative dedicated to improving access to health services for Roma people with physical disabilities, one of the most vulnerable social groups. These individuals face the combined effects of socio-economic marginalization, ethnic discrimination, and disability-related barriers, which limit access to medical services, social benefits, and rights protection mechanisms. The project is based on the understanding that exclusion is largely produced by social and institutional barriers rather than only by individual limitations.
Funded through the Erasmus+ Programme, KA220-ADU Cooperation Partnerships in Adult Education, the project runs from September 2025 to August 2027 and brings together a consortium of organizations from Spain, Greece, Germany, Sweden, North Macedonia, and Romania. The consortium is coordinated by Fundació Privada Pere Closa, while SASTIPEN participates as a partner with expertise in public health and Roma inclusion.
The main objective is to improve cooperation between Roma health mediators and professionals in the medical system, while also strengthening the capacity of institutions to respond adequately to the needs of Roma people with disabilities. The project seeks to develop training programs, educational tools, and evidence-based public policy recommendations, as well as to involve the target group directly in decision-making.
Activities include research on barriers to healthcare access, the development of intervention guides, the creation of an online learning platform with courses dedicated to health mediators and medical staff, pilot training sessions, and advocacy actions. The project will produce a code of good practice and a set of recommendations for inclusive public policies.
SASTIPEN contributes to the development of training programs and the implementation of activities in Romania, building on its experience in working with vulnerable communities. The project will generate transferable tools at European level, raise awareness of the rights of Roma people with disabilities, and support the development of more accessible and inclusive healthcare services, thus helping reduce inequalities and strengthen social participation.
