ROMAPLAT – Roma Platform for Civic Participation and Policy Dialogue is a European initiative dedicated to strengthening Roma civic participation and reinforcing the role of civil society organizations in the development and monitoring of public policies concerning Roma inclusion. The project responds to the need to increase the involvement of Roma communities in decision-making processes, in a context in which they still face social marginalization, discrimination, and limited representation in the public sphere.
Funded by the European Union through the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) Programme, under the CERV-2024-NRCP call, the project contributes to the implementation of the EU Strategic Framework for Roma Equality, Inclusion and Participation 2020–2030. Implementation runs for 24 months starting on 1 January 2025.
The project is coordinated by the National Roma Contact Point within the Ministry of Investments and European Projects, in partnership with the SASTIPEN Association and the Together Community Development Agency Foundation. This partnership combines institutional expertise with the experience of civil society in the fields of Roma inclusion and community development.
The main objective is to build a platform for dialogue between Roma organizations, civil society, and public authorities in order to support the active participation of Roma people in the drafting and monitoring of public policies. Activities include research on Roma civic participation, training sessions for community leaders, consultations with public institutions, and exchanges of good practices.
SASTIPEN contributes to research and consultation activities, the mobilization of Roma organizations, and dissemination at national level. Through stronger institutional dialogue and greater capacity among Roma organizations to influence public policies, ROMAPLAT supports the development of participatory governance and more inclusive policies for Roma communities.
