Improving access to mental health services for Roma

The project funded by the EU4Health Program 2021-2027, EU Grants, is implemented by the National Center for Mental Health and Anti-Drug Fight and the Ministry of Health in the period 01.09.2024- 31.08.2027

For its implementation, the project will involve Health Mediators and mental health professionals whose cooperation is essential to effectively identify, understand and address the needs of this vulnerable group in accessing mental health support, combating stigma and improving their quality of life.

The aim of the project is to contribute to the promotion of mental health and to improve Roma access to high quality mental health services in Bulgaria, Romania and Greece.
Specific objectives of the project:
1.Improve access for policy makers and health professionals to data on the types of mental health difficulties faced by Roma people
2.Building on existing practices on good mental health and/or prevention of mental health problems;
3. To improve the knowledge and capacities of MHP to better understand the complicated nature of the mental health problems faced by the Roma population and to cooperate effectively with RHM and health professionals working in community centers and Roma support facilities;
4. To improve RHM's knowledge and capacities on mental health issues and how to link with mental health services and mental health units and active cooperation with MHP;
